The Suffolk Republican Party will meet 1 May 2014 , 7:00 PM at the Constantia House behind R. W. Baker Funeral Home.  This meeting is to update events that we need to ensure the Republican Party has a presence starting with the month of May.  I also need to speak with all the Delegates that will attend the upcoming State Convention on 7 June 2014.   There will be Representatives for the Senate Candidates and Congressman Forbe’s office to provide campaign updates .  Any additional information will be posted on the Suffolk Website www.suffolkgop.com .

Last month we did a joint meeting with Isle Of Wight County.  Our guest speaker was Ed Gillespie, candidate for the United States Senate.  He gave a superb talk followed by a question and answer session.  If Ed receives the nomination this will be his first run for an elected office; however, he is well versed having served as the chairs of the RNC and RPV.  Ed Gillespie is the quality candidate that understands the issues. I urge you to give Ed Gillespie your consideration when you select the next United States Senator.  Furthermore, while working for Dick Armie, Republican Majority Leader, Ed was one of the architects of Contract with America.   The only regret is we did not have more people from both committees.

Medicaid Expansion - Town Hall Meeting

The Suffolk Republican Party will meet at the Hampton Inn Conference Room at 7:00 PM, 10 April 2014 in Smithfield, VA.  The Hampton Inn address is 200 Vincent’s Crossing.  We are having a Lincoln Reagan Reception with the Isle of Wight Republican Party, there will be guest speaker from the President Reagan’s Administration and Delegate Rick Morris .  Dinner will be served - fried chicken, slaw, and baked beans.   Please contact me if you can help setup (6:30 p.m.) or plan to attend.

The Suffolk Republican Party will conduct one piece of business and I will also answer any questions that Convention Delegates may have on the convention in Roanoke.  Also many of you are aware that we are approaching the end of our budget for the Commonwealth (1 July).  Our new Governor, as promised during his campaign has refused to pass a budget unless we have McAuliffe Care in it, which is the expanded Medicaid that we will be forced to fund within a few years at a cost of billions of dollars.  Please take the time to go to www.passthebudgetterry.com and ask McAuliffe to do his job.  To learn more about the Medicaid Expansion and the rest of the budget there will be a Town Hall Meeting on 9 April 2014, 7:00 PM at Kings Fork High School.  Speakers will be Delegates S. Chris Jones and Rick Morris, they will answer questions on what took place in Richmond for this last legislative session.  For those who are not familiar with Kings Fork High School the address is 351 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk, VA.

Chairman Endources Ed Gillespie

The Suffolk Republican Party conducted their Mass Meeting on March 20, 2014.  Stephen Trent, Thomas Turner, Jeremy Utt and Hope Styron were elected.  Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary respectively.  We also certified 13 Delegates to attend the State Convention in Roanoke which takes place on June 7, 2014 to elect the Republican Nominee for the United States Senate.

With the state of Obama Care and the fiasco it has turned into we have an excellent chance in defeating Mark Warner if we have the right candidate.  Therefore, I want to encourage you as a Delegate to vote for Ed Gillespie to be our nominee.

Gillespie was a long time top aide to the former House Majority Leader Dick Armey.  He was a principal drafter of Contract with America, the 1994 campaign platform on which Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives after 40 years of Democrat control.

He has served as National Chairman of Republican National Committee and Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. Ed Gillespie understands the damage that the $17 trillion debt is and Obama Care is doing to our country’s economy.  Please keep in mind Mark Warner is a huge proponent of Obama Care not only voting for it, he encouraged other freshmen Senators to vote for it.  Despite Warner promised to be fiscally responsible, he has voted for nearly $1 trillion in new taxes and $7 trillion in new debt.  Mark Warner also voted against a balanced budget amendment on the Senate floor.  Ed Gillespie will not only vote for a balanced budget amendment he will introduce one.

As Virginians we desperately need to elect Ed Gillespie to the United State Senate and Reelect Randy Forbes to the United States Congress.
